Decorative Stitch Mending Class

Learn three creative techniques for repairing holes and reinforcing worn areas in jeans, jackets, and other woven garments. Bring an item(s) you would like to mend or patch. If your garment doesn’t need repairs, you can use these same techniques to add decorative stitching and embellishment. Public Thread will also supply free denim jeans for any student who would like them during the class.  

Methods Taught

• Applying a visible patch with Japanese sashiko inspired hand stitching

• Placing a patch underneath a hole and using neat, exposed stitching to highlight the repair

• Creating a colorful woven patch using thread
